“Balu and You” is a mentoring program for primary school children: Dedicated young adults accompany your child for 2 hours a week in everyday life for a year through shared leisure activities.

We do NOT match mentors based on need. The Balu mentors will select the child you would like to befriend. The school will then connect the child and mentor. Please speak to your child's teacher.

The nationwide mentoring program is aimed at primary school children and supports them in extracurricular activities on their individual developmental path. At its core is a personal mentorship: Young, committed adults ("Balus") take on the reliable support of a child ("Mogli") for at least one year.
During this time, the pairs regularly spend two hours a week together in their free time. This might involve playing games, going on short trips (to museums, zoos, parks, or swimming pools), or simply talking together. The activities are based on your child's interests and are intentionally free of academic pressure. It's not about homework or tutoring. Through this consistent and supportive relationship, your child can gain new experiences, strengthen their social skills, and develop greater confidence in everyday life.
"Balu and You" places particular emphasis on trustworthy guidance and individualized support. The program's effectiveness has been scientifically studied and confirmed: many children benefit long-term in their personal and social development.
