Gambling addiction is a recognized illness and significantly dominates the daily lives of those affected and their families. Pathological gamblers experience an irresistible urge to gamble and seize almost every opportunity to do so.
At the same time, they neglect important professional obligations and social contacts, sometimes gambling away their homes and livelihoods. Over time, gambling increasingly serves to block out everyday stresses and conflicts or to deliberately evoke desired emotions such as stimulation or excitement.
It will be difficult,
- if you gamble away more than you actually intended,
- if you neglect other interests in favor of gaming,
- when the pressure constantly increases,
- when a lack of money increasingly dominates your everyday life,
- when partners, family and friends are repeatedly lied to,
- when gambling increasingly causes suffering,
…and ultimately control your entire life!
Those affected, as well as their families, are under considerable strain and therefore require professional help. Since the consequences of gambling addiction can be severe, both financially and psychosocially, it is crucial to seek counseling as early as possible.
