The network offers parents advice on general questions regarding childcare and in particular on the daycare centers run by parents' associations in Bremen.
Childcare in parent-run associations:
The childcare facilities run by parent-run associations offer approximately 3,700 childcare places in Bremen. As parents, you have a choice between different concepts and facility sizes.
Parent-run associations are characterized by close contact between parents and professionals. In this family-like atmosphere, daily group activities are geared towards the children's needs and adhere to the educational guidelines of the curriculum. This gives the facilities a special quality.
There are small daycare centers with one or two groups, as well as multi-group parent associations.
Parents' associations are colorful and diverse; each parents' association has its own unique character, expressed through an independent concept and individual association culture.
In the daycare center, you as parents can be actively involved by taking on responsibilities. This close cooperation often creates a social network of mutual support and relief for families.
The first parents' associations were founded more than 40 years ago. The founders aimed to raise their children together with others and to significantly influence their children's day-to-day care.
Parents' associations are financed through subsidies from the city of Bremen and parental contributions. To ensure that parents do not pay higher fees than in other daycare centers, they receive a reimbursement from the city of Bremen's parental contribution office, depending on their income. Free childcare from age three until school entry also applies to parents' associations.
