The advisory center for the blind and visually impaired has existed since 1979 and is an institution of the Bremen Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a self-help organization.
All associations for the blind and visually impaired, along with their advisory centers, belong to the nationwide umbrella organization, the German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (Deutscher Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband e. V.) in Berlin. From there, specific information is forwarded to all relevant institutions, ensuring qualified and up-to-date advice.
Discussion group
A support group for people who became blind or visually impaired later in life. They can share their specific challenges at monthly meetings. Discussions about concrete issues allow them to work intensively on coping with their disability.
