self-help association

Our association is a self-help organization for blind and visually impaired people in Bremen. The purpose of our association is to unite blind and visually impaired people living in Bremen.

The tasks of the association include in particular:

  • Advice and support for blind and visually impaired people, as well as those at risk of blindness and their relatives.
  • The protection of their social, professional, cultural and legal interests
  • Cooperation with all institutions for the blind and those institutions that support the interests of blind and visually impaired people.
  • Exchange of experiences and socializing

How can the Bremen Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired help you?

When your eyesight deteriorates, it's good to know you won't be left alone in this changed life situation. You need advice and support from a compassionate community. The people of Bremen recognized this early on and therefore founded our self-help organization in 1908.

Our association offers information, discussions, social interaction, and activities with other affected individuals. Here you will receive important information that you need for your independence and that you wouldn't otherwise get from anyone. Taking advantage of the support offered can make many things easier for you.

It is thanks to the nationwide associations of blind and visually impaired people that rights have been won, disadvantages eliminated, and benefits such as blind person's allowance introduced. There is no doubt that these organizations have greater political clout and can achieve and secure more the more members they have.
