Every child needs reliable caregivers. A loving relationship, giving time, and sharing joy make children strong. The mitKids Active Mentoring program connects children between the ages of two and nine who need extra support due to a difficult family situation or a lack of a primary caregiver.
mitKids has been operating in Bremen since January 2018. Through our partnership with the Bremen Volunteer Agency, we can draw on extensive expertise in volunteer work and mentoring programs. Volunteer mentors regularly spend time with their mentees and develop an emotional bond. The mitKids active mentoring program creates the foundation for a successful start in life!
Coordinator Kathrin Klug has built a team of dedicated mentors and actively promoted the project in Hamburg. Currently, over 40 children look forward to their weekly meetings with their mentors. More children are on the waiting list – because for a successful mentorship, aspects such as proximity to the mentor's home, shared interests and expectations, and much more need to be coordinated. Therefore, applications from interested families and volunteers are always welcome!
The mitKids project is a collaborative project between the Bremen Volunteer Agency and the Ehlerding Foundation.
mitKids Bremen is funded by the German Child Benefit Foundation.
