The Catholic parish association in Bremen operates numerous positions for pastoral care and counselling services.

Emergency chaplaincy

It often happens completely unexpectedly: Someone in our neighborhood dies, and even the emergency doctor can't help. Or the police ring the doorbell because they have to deliver a death notification. Then the staff of the Bremen emergency chaplaincy can be alerted by the emergency services of the fire department, ambulance service, and police to support victims and their families in their suffering, helplessness, and grief. They are the first aid for the soul.

The Protestant Church and the Catholic Church of Bremen, through their full-time staff, ensure professional support and absolute confidentiality (this can extend to the right to refuse to testify in court). Around the clock, 365 days a year, Bremen's emergency chaplaincy is reliably on call to support people facing tragedies. The primary focus is on helping those affected through the initial shock, allowing them to process their feelings, come to terms with what has happened, and becoming aware of their own social resources.

Telephone counselling

Perhaps you are unemployed or your relationship is breaking down. Or you are suffering from anxiety and violence. Whatever is troubling you: We take even seemingly insignificant problems seriously. We listen.

Whenever you call, even at night and on Sundays and public holidays: The staff of the telephone counseling service are there for you. These calls are, of course, anonymous and confidential. We know of and can recommend counseling centers or bereavement and self-help groups.
