Problem Management Plus (PM+) – Strengthened through everyday life

Refugees have an increased risk of mental health problems and, consequently, a greater need for psychosocial support. They are psychologically burdened by traumatic experiences in their country of origin, as well as during and after their flight. Nevertheless, a large proportion of those who exhibit mental health problems and need help do not receive counseling or therapy.

The "Problem Management Plus" (PM+) intervention, developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), is a low-threshold, preventative psychological measure designed to reduce psychological distress among refugees. It has proven particularly effective internationally. A key feature of PM+ is that it is delivered by trained facilitators who speak the language of the participants.

The HOME project aims to research the introduction of PM+ specifically for refugees in Germany.
