The Bremen Child Protection Association and the Obervieland Community Center invite you to a reading with author Miriam Davoudvandi. She will read from her new bestseller, which explores what it truly feels like to be poor in Germany and the long-term effects of poverty.
There will be space for relaxed socializing and conversation. Local support services will be available on site.
Miriam Davoudvandi was born in Bucharest in 1992 to a Romanian mother and an Iranian father. She grew up in southern Germany and is an award-winning freelance journalist, presenter, and author. As host of the WDR podcast "Danke, gut" (Thank You, Good), she talks to public figures about mental health. She began her journalistic career writing about rap music. Later, she was editor-in-chief of a hip-hop magazine. Today, her articles on pop culture, politics, and mental health appear in all relevant media outlets. In 2016, her bestselling non-fiction book "Das können wir uns nicht leisten" (We Can't Afford This), in which she addresses poverty in Germany, was published.
