Supported parenting is a service for parents with intellectual disabilities. Our specialists visit the mothers and fathers in their homes. The goal is to empower the parents so that their children can thrive and grow up together as a family.
Who can receive help?
All parents with an intellectual disability can receive this support. They can take advantage of this service if they wish. The service is regulated in Section 27.2 of the Eighth Book of the German Social Code. In Bremen, contact the relevant social services center in your district.
Important: The youth welfare office must give its approval. Then a service provider can be commissioned. This provider could be, for example, the Martinsclub. The youth welfare office will then cover the costs.
What is supported parenting?
The support is multifaceted. Our specialists advise parents and offer tips for family life. All family members are at the center of our efforts.
- We support you during your pregnancy
- We help with the care of the children

- We help with everyday life and dealing with authorities
What happens during the meeting at the youth welfare office?
You will meet with a designated social worker. During this meeting, you will describe your situation. Together, you will discuss what kind of support would be most suitable for you. Then, you will create a support plan together. Later, the social worker will commission the relevant professionals to provide the necessary assistance.
They must adhere to the support plan. Our staff will adapt to your needs. They will support you wherever you need help. The Martinsclub stands for quality: Our staff members have a pedagogical qualification in this field.
