The Democracy Centre of the State of Bremen is a central specialist and support structure for promoting democracy, diversity and social recognition in the state of Bremen.
The Democracy Center's tasks include advising and supporting victims of right-wing, racist, and antisemitic violence, as well as providing mobile counseling to institutions, municipalities, and organizations on dealing with developments that threaten democracy. Furthermore, it offers disengagement and deradicalization counseling for individuals who wish to break free from extremist ideologies. Its services are aimed at professionals, educational institutions, associations, civil society initiatives, and other actors involved in prevention and democracy promotion.
Another focus is on networking and strengthening civil society actors. Within the framework of the federal program "Democracy Live!", the Democracy Center supports collaborations, local partnerships, and projects promoting democracy, diversity, and preventing extremism and misanthropy.
In addition, the Democracy Center provides information and educational materials for school and extracurricular educational work. The aim is to support professionals and multipliers in developing democratic skills, counteracting discrimination, and strengthening social participation.
