The Bremen School Museum now belongs to the State Institute for Schools (LIS)
The Bremen School Museum has been part of the State Institute for Schools (LIS) since January 2026. To mark the conclusion of the onboarding process, the LIS officially welcomed the museum in a ceremony on June 23. At the same time, the sponsoring association, Bremen School Museum e.V., was formally thanked for its service and its commitment to the museum's development over the past 16 years.

Education Report 2026: Equal opportunities and securing skilled workers remain key tasks
The current edition of the national education report “Education in Germany 2026” describes the German education system in a phase of profound social and demographic changes: declining birth rates, shortage of skilled workers, changing immigration patterns and growing demands for equal opportunities and integration now shape all areas of education – from early childhood education to adult education.
More children in daycare centers: Bremen simplifies access for refugee children
Starting this summer, Bremen will once again offer all children a place in daycare. Thanks to a new collaboration between the departments of Children and Education and Labor, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration, children from refugee families will have easier access to daycare places. In addition to the approximately 190 children who have already been assigned a place, 50 more children from refugee accommodations have been officially registered, and around 40 more are currently being actively placed. The goal is to get all children into daycare, especially those with language support needs.

The Bremen summer holidays are just around the corner! To give parents an overview of childcare options during the school holidays, the Bremen Holiday Compass is available. Providers can now submit their supervised holiday programs for school children (ages 6-12 or 13 and up) for publication.

The professional portal will in future offer a central resource for professionals: It provides up-to-date information on family support services, informs about specialist topics and events, and enables diverse networking opportunities.
Register groups and school classes now: FASD exhibition in Bremen
The free traveling exhibition ZERO! provides experiential information about fetal alcohol syndrome, pregnancy, alcohol, and FASD. It will be on display at the Bremen Health Department from June 8th to 12th, 2026. Groups and school classes can now register for a visit.
