The first months and years of life are of paramount importance for the child's entire subsequent development. It is especially important during this time to support (expectant) parents in order to foster a positive parent-child relationship.
To achieve this goal, the legislator stipulated in Section 3 Paragraph 4 of the Law on Cooperation and Information in Child Protection (KKG) that the Federal Government shall establish a permanent fund to ensure the early intervention networks and the psychosocial support of pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers aged 0 to 3 years.
Tasks of the State Coordination Office for Early Intervention:
- Funding for projects financed through the Federal Foundation for Early Childhood Intervention
- Further development and quality improvement of early intervention services at the state level
- Cooperation at the federal level
- Public relations work on early intervention topics
What are early intervention services?
- promote primary and secondary prevention and health promotion
- are aimed at all families from pregnancy until the child's third birthday
- are precisely tailored to the specific needs of different families
- They particularly support families with a medium level of stress
- can be used as early as possible, with low barriers and on a voluntary basis
- This means a resource-oriented promotion of parental competence and parental self-efficacy
- contribute to networking between families and professionals
- are part of a comprehensive municipal concept and
- scientifically sound.
