Introductory module for specialists

Half-day event providing an initial overview of the structure of early intervention services in the city of Bremen (free of charge)

New families benefit from knowledge about support services within the local network. Professionals who are new to early intervention services should have the same opportunity.

Why an introductory event?

Structural complexity

Early intervention services are a broad field: they encompass diverse professional backgrounds, access pathways, and legal frameworks. Professionals with varying training and backgrounds work together in early intervention services. Employers operate under different structures and belong to various departments. What seems obvious to me might be viewed from a completely different perspective by a colleague.

Content complexity

Early intervention services are a cross-cutting issue: they cannot be clearly assigned to a single department, division, or professional profile. This makes the work exciting – and challenging.

Real working world

Staff shortages, time constraints, limited financial resources, the pandemic… The working conditions in early intervention services are challenging. This makes it all the more important that new colleagues are not left alone with their questions.

Contents

We offer a half-day event providing a compact introduction to the following areas for professionals and volunteers:

  • A concise overview of the professional basics: What is meant by "Early Intervention Services", how did they originate and what professional standards have been established?
  • Structures and networks: How are the Federal Foundation for Early Childhood Support, the NZFH, the decentralized networks in the city districts and the municipal network for early childhood support interconnected?
  • The landscape in Bremen: The overarching goal of early intervention services is clear: to enable all children to grow up well and healthily. But what does that mean in concrete terms? How will this be implemented in Bremen? What services are available and who is responsible for what?

"Great! Can I participate?"

We would be delighted to welcome you as a participant if you…

  • Those working in the city of Bremen in relation to pregnant women or parents of babies and toddlers (e.g. in daycare centers, healthcare or youth services, as a midwife or case manager, in pregnancy counseling or as a social worker for families…)
  • Want an overview of the structures and services of early intervention programs in the Hanseatic city?
  • Interested in exchanging ideas in a small group of professionals and discussing the understanding of early intervention services together?

We see the event as an offer to colleagues who are new to the field of early intervention in Bremen and would like to benefit from a compact input on professional basics and values as well as an overview of the specific offers and structures in Bremen.

The idea for this event was largely inspired by the topics discussed in the Early Intervention Quality Dialogues.

As network coordinators, we see it as our task to advocate for good orientation in the field of work and high professional competence among the specialists and volunteers in early intervention services.
