Health Working Group

The Health Working Group is part of the Bremen Council for Health's organizational structure. It works purposefully to improve healthcare for immigrants in Bremen, but is not limited to a specific topic. Key themes are determined collaboratively.

Bremen Alliance for the Support of Natural Childbirth

Development of joint recommendations for the care of pregnancy and childbirth to support the primarily healthy process of pregnancy, analyze obstacles, and overcome them where possible. Interdisciplinary solutions are being developed for the problem of high cesarean section rates in Bremen.

AK Young Families in Motion

• Founded in 1999
• Goals: To reduce the increasing lack of physical activity among children, to integrate children's gymnastics into health promotion, to provide new impetus for promoting physical activity in children
• Implementation of measures and initiatives such as a children's movement tent at the Breminale festival, congresses, and the "Recognized Movement Kindergarten" project

Bremen forum women's health

The Bremen Forum for Women's Health is a network for interdisciplinary discussions on women's health issues, bringing together representatives from counseling centers, projects, educational and scientific institutions, professional associations, hospitals, medical and employee associations, health insurance associations, government agencies, and public health services. The forum has existed since 1994.

• Develops strategies for women-centered healthcare in Bremen
• Organizes lobbying for women's interests within the framework of regional and supra-regional cooperation of female experts from the health sector and other relevant fields

Lüssum-Bockhorn district group

Public meetings are held to implement the Senate program "Living in Neighborhoods – WiN," the federal-state program "Social City," and the ESF program "Local Capital for Social Purposes." The focus is on improving and strengthening the social and cultural services in the designated area (Lüssum-Bockhorn district), developing and facilitating access to services for the integration, qualification, and support of residents. Decisions regarding the allocation of funds from the aforementioned programs for the projects presented at the meetings are made by consensus. These projects include the redesign of playgrounds, schoolyards, and public squares; psychological counseling for Turkish families; "Neighborhood Mediation" (victim-offender reconciliation); the community lunch program at the neighborhood center; theater projects in schools; support for the transition from school to work; local employment opportunities; holiday programs for children with and without disabilities; and sewing and painting projects at the art shop in Lüssumer Heide.

Network “Old Diversity”

A collaboration of public and private institutions and providers in the field of outpatient and inpatient elderly care, open elderly work, and supporting individuals and institutions in the Hemelingen district

Task: To promote elderly care and services in the district, identify shortcomings and problem areas in the living environment of older people and develop support services

Goal: To redesign the district to be age-friendly and age-appropriate, thus offering people the opportunity to grow old in their familiar living environment.
