Information evenings for parents and educators

TV, PC and Co. – Of mice & monsters in the children's room…

Media have long since become an integral part of children's everyday lives. Media use is naturally among children's most popular leisure activities. Even preschoolers use media daily: they listen to CDs and cassettes, look at picture books, watch television, and play on computers or tablets. They usually approach new technologies and media worlds quite openly and with a great deal of curiosity. However, adults often find it difficult to imagine what it means to grow up naturally in a multimedia environment. Consequently, there is often considerable uncertainty about the impact of these media experiences on children's development and their understanding of the world. How does media content affect children, and is there such a thing as too much media? When is a little more okay, and when is it enough?

Information evenings for parents and educators

The information evenings offer parents and educators the opportunity to explore the media landscape of children up to 8 years old. Following an engaging introduction to the topic, a short presentation will provide foundational knowledge about children's media use and the perception and impact of media. An open discussion will then cover tips for managing media in everyday family life and offer guidance on suitable TV programs, computer games, and apps. Of course, the evening will also provide time for sharing experiences and asking questions. We are happy to come to your daycare center for this event.

The information evenings are organized by Blickwechsel eV – Association for Media and Cultural Education. The parents' evenings are financed by the Bremen State Media Authority and are free of charge for the kindergartens.
