Digital media is on everyone's lips. The media itself frequently warns of the dangers of its use and spreads fear surrounding the topic. Smartphone and social media bans are discussed and sometimes implemented. In reality, digital media has become indispensable. It's already found in many children's rooms, making it increasingly important to promote media literacy from an early age. Prevention plays a crucial role in this in many respects.
The conference, jointly organized by LVG & AFS and AOK Lower Saxony, is primarily aimed at professionals working with children, young people, and their parents or guardians – from daycare and primary school to secondary school. Media literacy is not learned in a day and requires continuous engagement with the topic, as it is rapidly evolving and constantly changing. Instead of fear and panic, participants can discover excellent projects and receive practical inspiration.
Following a keynote address by Kristin Langer, a certified media educator from the SCHAU HIN! initiative, on the topic of "Growing up with media – but doing it right!", eight workshops on various media education topics will be offered. Four workshops will run concurrently, allowing you to choose one from each of the two sessions. To help you choose, you will find brief descriptions of each workshop here. Additionally, the abbreviations Kita (kindergarten), GS (primary school), and WS (secondary school) after the workshop titles indicate the primary age group for each workshop.
