Professional development for newcomers and career changers in youth services
This professional development course is perfect for you if you want to better support and guide young people in difficult situations.
Working in youth services is challenging and demanding. It requires knowledge of pedagogical approaches and methods, as well as legal frameworks, to provide appropriate support to young people and their guardians. This professional development program builds upon existing experience and explores various topics in youth services through both theory and practice. You will learn to reflect on your own pedagogical work and to collaborate professionally within a team.
Requirements for participation
You can participate in the professional development program…
- if you work professionally in outpatient or inpatient youth services.
- if you can demonstrate German language skills at level B2 CEFR or better.
Contents:
- Module 1: Pedagogical Approaches in Youth Welfare
- Module 2: Legal framework in youth welfare
- Module 3: Methodological competence
To support the learning process and the transfer of knowledge into practice, you will receive practical assignments to complete between seminars. Where possible, a practical mentor will support you at your workplace to reflect on the seminar content and apply it to your work.
Depending on requirements and/or by arrangement, we conduct parts of the training online.

184 teaching units (TU) + approx. 16 hours of work on assignments for the transfer of theory into practice + 2 hours final colloquium
