Theme

12-18 year olds

Meeting places, leisure activities and counselling services for young people from around 12 years of age relieve the burden on parents of pubescent children and offer adolescents new opportunities with many different activities
Three people aged 12-18 are standing together.
  • The first point of contact in case of conflicts with the youth welfare office is the ombudsman's office BeBeE. It is independent, free of charge, confidential and can also provide anonymous advice.

  • Free, confidential counselling is available, for example, at the educational and family counselling centers of the Office for Social Services. The Regional Counselling and Support Centers (ReBUZ) are the first point of contact for advice, diagnosis, prevention, and support for school-related problems for parents, students, and teachers.

  • Your first point of contact should be the Regional Counseling and Support Centers (ReBUZ) and the Bremen Educational Counseling Centers. Depending on the topic and situation, there are other counseling centers that can help you and your family.

  • You can contact the Bremen educational counselling centers and the child protection center, but also the school social work and trusted teachers at your school or educational staff in, for example, youth facilities (Freizis).

  • There are specialized counseling centers that cater exclusively to girls (e.g., Mädchenhaus Bremen) or boys (e.g., Jungen-Büro), as well as services for queer youth. In addition, there are counseling services and consultation hours on gender-specific issues.

  • There are various resources available for young people, such as educational and youth counseling centers, school social work services, and educational support in youth centers and recreational facilities. The children's and youth helpline ("Number against Worries") at 116 111 offers free and anonymous assistance.

  • Parents and other caregivers can contact the city's counseling centers for children, adolescents, and families with any personal or family-related questions. These might include questions about development, parenting, (family) conflicts, or separation and divorce.
