Things don't always run smoothly at school. Some children have learning difficulties, others don't feel comfortable in class, struggle with anxiety, or lose their motivation to attend school. Parents, too, sometimes face questions they can't answer on their own. This is precisely where the Regional Counseling and Support Centers in Bremen – ReBUZ for short – provide support.

The ReBUZ (Regional Counseling and Support Centers) are school-based counseling and support services provided by the city of Bremen. They are aimed at students, parents, teachers, and other school professionals. The services are free and confidential. There are four regional locations in Bremen: North, East, South, and West. The ReBUZ responsible for the school the child attends is the one that serves the child. The teams consist of professionals from various fields, including school psychologists, special education teachers, and social workers. This allows problems to be viewed from different perspectives and appropriate solutions to be developed.

How can the ReBUZ help me?

The topics are diverse. Support is available from, among others:

  • Learning and performance problems
  • Dyslexia and dyscalculia
  • Speech and language problems
  • special talents
  • Behavioral problems
  • psychological stress
  • socio-emotional difficulties
  • Bullying, violence, or conflicts
  • School avoidance and frequent absences
  • Questions about school career and school changes
  • Crises and emergencies in the school environment

For parents: Support in challenging situations

When a child dislikes going to school, suffers from academic pressure, or experiences recurring conflicts, many parents initially feel alone. The ReBUZ offers the opportunity to work with professionals to identify the causes and find solutions. The counseling is independent, voluntary, and confidential. Parents can also receive support with questions about their child's future schooling or available support services.

For students: You don't have to solve problems alone

Sometimes school just feels difficult. Perhaps there are arguments in class, stress at home, exam anxiety, or the feeling of not being able to keep up. The ReBUZ (Regional Counseling Center) is also there for students. Together with the counselors, ways can be found to improve the situation. It's important to know: Anyone who contacts the ReBUZ will be taken seriously. The conversations take place in a safe and confidential environment.

More than just advice

In addition to providing counseling, the ReBUZ (Regional Centers for Educational Support) also support schools in times of crisis, violence, or emergencies. Furthermore, in special cases, they offer temporary schooling programs for children and young people who are temporarily unable to participate successfully in regular classes. The ReBUZ also works closely with schools, centers for supportive pedagogy (ZuP), and other institutions. The goal is always to strengthen children and young people in their development and enable them to participate successfully in school life.
