In Bremen's Neustadt district, the Käthe Social Campus is being created as a new hub for social services, counseling, support, and education. Various support services will converge on the site on Käthe-Popall-Straße. At the same time, the campus is intentionally designed to integrate seamlessly into the neighborhood and create spaces for community interaction.
Some services are already available on-site: The counseling centers of the Inner Mission Bremen moved from the city center to the social campus in May 2026. These include, among others, the
- Advice for newly arrived EU citizens (Fair BINNEN),
- the counselling and intervention center for domestic violence and
- the advice center for social issues.
The latter provides support, for example, with financial and personal problems, social benefits, and questions concerning family, daycare, school, health, and integration.
The campus will also include a daycare center, housing for people with support needs, and additional counseling and work spaces. The existing building will house 155 places for people who require support due to health or physical limitations. The outpatient care service "mission" has also established its new location on the social campus.
The campus is named after Käthe Popall (1907–1984). The Bremen politician and resistance fighter championed social justice, equality, and women's rights. She was the first woman in the Bremen Parliament and Bremen's first Senator for Welfare and Health.
The social campus is intended to gradually become an open space in the neighborhood – for people seeking support, for families and professionals, as well as for neighbors. The Käthe social campus is located at Käthe-Popall-Straße 5, 28201 Bremen.
