With our "Bremen Family Blog," we have been offering the many Bremen institutions that work with and for families a platform for their topics since the end of 2021: What can and can family education achieve? What services and institutions are available in the city? What concerns and motivates Bremen families?

The family blog aims to provide answers to these questions and support parents digitally. Over 40 posts have already been published in the three categories "Becoming a Family," "All About Family – Of Course!" and "Play, Excitement & Fun.".

And here's how it works

1. Tell a story! Turn your topic into a story!

The Bremen family blog aims to offer readers added value and benefits. Provide insights into your work and activities. Offer families inspiration, suggestions, and tips on current topics that are relevant to families and parents. Be professional, but also approachable.

2) Be personal! Authenticity and a personal touch are key.

A blog is about personal thoughts and perspectives. Blogs are therefore usually written from a first-person or collective perspective. Tell us what you do, for whom, and what passion and motivation drive you.

Examples:

  • What has been your best experience at work so far?
  • What do you fondly remember?
  • What has recently surprised you the most?
  • From your personal perspective, what is worth sharing about your work with families/mothers/fathers/children?
  • What makes your team special?
  • What topic are you passionate about?

3) Write for Bremen! Bremen as an identity.

This blog is for Bremen! It aims to convey a sense of "We live in Bremen – and its diverse neighborhoods!" Stand out from the countless other blogs by highlighting this connection. Make it appealing for readers to visit your local community center or service to get to know you.

4) Tips for writing

  • The blog should be readable for everyone. Therefore, please use short sentences and few foreign words.
  • Choose the informal "you" form of address and use small appeals and direct address to establish a connection with the readers, e.g. "You might know this if..." or "Try to see if...".
  • Links allow you to include additional and further information (e.g., about events or projects) that would otherwise exceed the scope and distract from the actual topic.
  • Choose a meaningful title for your post and write a teaser as an introduction, explaining what it's about in two to three sentences. Bullet points, checklists, or tips can also help with structure and provide a clear narrative thread.
  • Good photos make a big difference. Choose an image that fits the topic and for which you own the image and personality rights. Your press office may be able to help you with this.
