The Workers' Samaritan Federation (ASB) is 20,000 members and more than 1,700 volunteers and full-time employees the largest aid and welfare organization in the state of Bremen, 110 years, ASB Bremen has pursued exclusively and directly charitable and benevolent purposes. ASB Bremen's services are always geared towards the needs and requirements of Bremen's citizens.
The ASB (Workers' Samaritan Federation) is active in Bremen, providing a wide range of social services and programs. These include elderly care and nursing, ambulance and rescue services, search and rescue operations with the ASB search and rescue dog unit, migration and refugee support, first aid, the Workers' Samaritan Youth (ASJ), school first aid services, child and youth services, disaster relief, support for people with disabilities or mental health conditions, and emergency preparedness training. Furthermore, ASB Bremen is a training center for the Federal Volunteer Service (BFD) and the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ).
In a variety of individual projects, ASB Bremen is involved in specific topics such as neighborhood-based senior citizen groups and residences, dementia cafés, cultural offerings for senior citizens, first aid courses for relatives of people in need of care and for people aged 50+, or emergency preparedness at home.
