Balu Pediatric Intensive Care Service | Bremen Office

Our mission is to provide intensive pediatric care in a home setting. We offer intensive medical and nursing care for children and attend to their daily needs. We are also important contacts for families and other caregivers in daycare, school, or medical settings.

We are approximately 120 nursing professionals who work day and night caring for children. Three regional Balu offices ensure that these assignments run smoothly. From Hamburg, Bremen, and Neversdorf in Schleswig-Holstein, our team handles administrative matters, coordinates assignments, and ensures the well-being of all staff members.

For questions and problems, the management and nursing service managers in the offices are always available to listen and always find a solution if someone wants to swap a shift or has something on their mind.

We are there for the children and their families. We alleviate worries, take on responsibilities, listen, and offer solutions. In this way, we create space for well-being and joy in life.

Our work requires medical expertise and great empathy. This allows us to support families in managing their daily lives and make life easier for them as they face these challenges.

We are trusted individuals with time

We provide one-on-one care. This means that each of us has only one child per shift. This gives us the time we need to truly connect with each child and fully adapt to their needs. We often accompany the children for years and witness their individual, sometimes surprising, development.

We are important caregivers who understand the children and can communicate with them. This enables us to allow them to participate in life and have a daily routine despite illness or disability.

We ensure medical care

Without us, many of the children we care for would not be able to grow up at home with their families. We take on a great responsibility by supporting families with caregiving and ensuring medical care in a familiar environment.

We are in contact with doctors and therapists and always keep an eye on the care of the children – including in daycare, at school, on excursions or on vacation.

We let the sunshine in

We don't know what boredom is. Our work is different every day. Because every child is different and every child has different needs every day.
