The Bremen Regional Association encompasses the area of ​​the Bremen Deanery, from the south of the city to the Lesum River. The northern part of Bremen belongs to the Diocese of Hildesheim. Of the approximately 550,000 inhabitants, about 12% belong to the Catholic Church. The roughly 6,000 young Catholics between the ages of 10 and 20 live predominantly in the city's outer districts. Contact with children and young people is maintained through open drop-in centers, decentralized and centrally organized youth camps, international youth exchanges, weekend seminars, projects, and training and professional development for group leaders.

Meeting points are primarily the church parishes and the city center around St. John's and the Atrium. A challenge is the competition from other commercial and non-commercial offerings in the city. The Catholic schools in four districts, and especially in the city center, as well as contact with state schools, are becoming increasingly important for children's and youth work.

A key focus of our work is the training and further education of group leaders (Juleica), as well as the implementation of actions and projects at the deanery and state level.

The State Working Group

The BDKJ deanery boards of the deaneries of Bremen (diocese of Osnabrück), Bremen-North (diocese of Hildesheim) and Bremerhaven (diocese of Hildesheim) and the BDKJ member associations active at the state level have joined together to form a state working group (LAG) for joint representation of interests at the level of the federal state of Bremen.

Our tasks at the state level involve representing the interests of the BDKJ (Federation of German Catholic Youth) in political, church, and internal association bodies and areas. As the state office, we are represented at the BDKJ's state conference, at the federal level of the BDKJ, and in the youth councils in Bremen and Bremerhaven. We aim to promote exchange among the deaneries, initiate joint projects, and collaborate with the BDKJ's sponsoring organization in the state of Bremen.
