Children's Hospice Support Center Löwenherz Bremen

The Löwenherz Bremen outpatient children's hospice support center provides assistance to families with terminally ill children in Bremen and the surrounding area. Volunteer children's hospice workers travel to the families' homes and support them there.

Many families from Bremen and the surrounding area are already taking advantage of the outpatient support services. They report that the support provided by the children's hospice volunteers is enriching and a relief for all family members in their daily lives.

The Lionheart coordinators are the contact persons for the families and the volunteers. Among other things, they are also responsible for training.

Who can use the outpatient service?

• Any family with a child suffering from a life-limiting or life-threatening illness can take advantage of Löwenherz's outpatient support services in Bremen free of charge.

How are volunteers trained?

The Löwenherz staff members in the outpatient children's hospice care program receive intensive training to prepare them for their work. They all work on a voluntary basis. The training covers the following key areas:

• Overview of various disease patterns
• Effects of chronic stress in families
• Communication skills and empathetic listening
• Coping with grief, illness, dying and death

• If you are a family affected: Please call our office and arrange a consultation appointment with a coordinator. Afterwards, you can decide whether you would like to take advantage of our services.
• As an interested volunteer: You are cordially invited to our regularly held information evenings in Bremen to learn more about the outpatient work, the training and the subsequent cooperation.
• As a supporter: You can also support our outpatient children's hospice work financially – for example, by making a donation to the sponsoring organization, the association Kinderhospiz Löwenherz eV.
