The Senator for Children and Education

In the city-state of Bremen, the state government is called the Senate. The Senator for Children and Education is one of the state's senatorial departments (ministries). The highest administrative authority for schools is also known as the Ministry of Education in other German states. Mark Rackles has been Senator (Minister) since October 8, 2025. Torsten Klieme has been State Councillor for Education since June 15, 2022.

The authority is divided into three departments: 1. Central Services, 2. Education, 3. Children and the Senator's Office.

• State Institute for Schools
• Regional Advice and Support Centers (ReBUZ)
• Neighborhood education centers (QBZ), all-day schools
• Institute for Quality Development in the State of Bremen (IQHB)
