Spending leisure time at the youth center means gaining age-appropriate experiences and learning to interact supportively in a safe space that offers openness to experimentation, interest-based learning, individual support, and conflict resolution. In addition to open activities, modern facilities host media education projects, creative workshops, developmental support both in and out of school, and programs specifically for girls and boys.

A key focus of the Roter Sand youth center is promoting the mobility of young people. The green spaces on the grounds and in the surrounding neighborhood near the Weser River invite recreational, experiential, and sporting activities outdoors. Regular excursions in and around Bremen are planned with young people throughout the year. All activities are designed and implemented in a participatory and transparent manner with the young participants.
