What you should know

If you have been sexually assaulted or raped, you will have to cope with physical and psychological trauma. Sexualized violence is usually experienced as a profound disruption to life: nothing is ever the same again. The psychological consequences are often far-reaching. Victims suffer from anxiety or sleep disorders and have difficulty managing their daily lives.

If you are or have been the victim of a sexual offense, you are in a difficult physical and psychological situation. You should definitely seek medical attention as soon as possible, even if no visible injuries are apparent.

After experiencing a sexual assault, victims often face the question of whether to file a report. Many, however, are afraid to do so or are unable to make this decision promptly due to the traumatic experience.
