Neighborhood center in Bremen's north

The House of the Future is a community center located in the north of Bremen. Situated in the Lüssum-Bockhorn district, it serves as a meeting place and hub for interaction. The activities offered at the center aim to strengthen the residents' sense of responsibility and self-help initiatives.

In the House of the Future, municipal, social, religious, and sports organizations work together with committed citizens. It is a social and cultural service and communication center. In a district with significant social problems, the aim is to create positive change. This dedicated work not only benefits the neighborhood but also the entire Blumenthal district.

Offers

multigenerational house

The House of the Future was included in the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs' "Multi-Generational Houses" action program in November 2006. To date, the House of the Future is the only project in the city of Bremen to receive funding through this program. The Bremen Multi-Generational House is a collaborative project.

Every multigenerational house is an open, daytime meeting place where generations can naturally interact and help each other – just like in the extended family of the past. Because as our family networks shrink, multigenerational houses should be places where mutual support between young and old is rediscovered and actively practiced.

Multigenerational houses help to promote children, advise families and activate civic engagement.

The funding aims to transfer the cohesion and cooperation of different generations from the private to the public sphere, to utilize the experience and potential of the older generation, and thus to activate social capital.

Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Lüssum

The Evangelical Lutheran parish of Lüssum sees itself as a welcoming community, open to all people in the Lüssum district with their diverse needs and interests. Our parish feels connected to all population groups in this district with its high percentage of foreign residents.

Thus, the initiative for the House of the Future arose from within their ranks, and they made a portion of the municipal land available to it on a long-term lease. They support the association and participate in community work in the Lüssum district. Cooperation is therefore highly valued in Lüssum.

Our daycare center, encompassing a nursery, kindergarten, and after-school program, is an integral part of our community. Many initiatives originate from the kindergarten, the community, and the after-school program and are continued within the community: lively festivals, joint worship services, and projects addressing current issues.
