As part of early intervention programs, spaces for experiences are created to support the development of children with delayed development or congenital disabilities, from birth until they start school.

Children learn and develop through play and interaction with others. They explore their world with curiosity and a spirit of inquiry. Over time, their range of activities and opportunities for self-directed action expand. How they approach this and the preferences they develop vary from child to child. The family is the primary environment for this self-directed behavior. In addition, daycare centers offer a wide range of stimulating activities and opportunities for all children. For some children, the developmental process is fluid and easy, while for others it is more challenging and difficult.

Support needs can become apparent in various areas:

  • in motion
  • while speaking
  • in interaction with other children and adults
  • in grasping processes and relationships, colors, shapes

These children may need early intervention services. Cooperation with the daycare center aims to facilitate their social participation. As part of our early intervention program, we create learning environments for children with developmental delays or congenital disabilities, from birth until they start school, to support their development.

Early intervention services

Through targeted programs and a trusting relationship, children experience their strengths, abilities and resources with the early intervention specialist in individual settings, small or large groups at the daycare center, depending on the child's needs.

Early intervention services for children with special educational needs are provided:

  • near your home in the daycare center
  • at home as part of early childhood education, if no daycare place is yet available
  • or at our early intervention center in Wachmannstraße or at the branch Bürgerhaus Obervieland (BGO)

The child's personality, their play and learning environment in the daycare center, and their family and social surroundings are all considered in their development. This allows the child's progress to impact all areas of their life. In particular, the wishes and goals of the parents or guardians for their children play a crucial role in this collaborative process.

The complex service

The comprehensive service consists of early intervention services plus medical and therapeutic services such as occupational, speech, and/or physical therapy. It takes place at the early intervention center's branch offices, which are located in several daycare centers. If children have not been offered a daycare place, the comprehensive service can be provided at the early intervention center's premises in Löwenhof or at the Obervieland community center (branch office).

The Open Consultation

Parents or guardians who are concerned about their child and have questions about their child's development are welcome to take advantage of the open consultation service. An interdisciplinary team will meet with the parents or guardians, observe the child, and provide an initial assessment of their development. This will lead to recommendations for further action, such as applying for early intervention services.
