Setting the course together

Through the early intervention program of the Hans-Wendt-Foundation, parents and relatives of children with developmental disabilities can receive all necessary support measures from a single source.

As part of our early intervention program, we offer holistic, interdisciplinary developmental support for your child, taking into account their living environment. In addition to supporting the child's development, close collaboration with you as parents, consultation with the daycare center where your child is cared for, and cooperation with other external specialists are all important components of our early intervention services.

The early intervention program is aimed at children with developmental disabilities from birth until they start school and their families.

our range

Early intervention can be provided as an individual therapeutic education service or as part of a complex service, i.e., physiotherapy, occupational therapy and/or speech therapy are added as components of early intervention.

We provide early intervention services at various locations.

Special education support

Therapeutic education is a holistic support service designed to assist your child's development in all areas.

A fundamental goal of early intervention is to enable and promote your child's participation in their environment. Through early intervention services, your child will be supported in participating in activities that are important to them, together with other children and adults. When planning the participation goals of early intervention, we also consider your child's preferences, dislikes, and wishes.

The support programs are individually planned and structured for your child, taking into account their current developmental level in the following areas

  • Attention, learning, memory
  • Speech, body language and dialogue
  • Movement, posture, balance
  • interplay of hands, face, senses
  • Taking care of oneself and being self-employed
  • Togetherness, feelings, playing behavior

The support program is designed to be playful and relevant to everyday life, so that children experience it as motivating and positive. It can be structured as individual, small group, or group support.

In the consultation for you as parents, as well as in the consultation for the pedagogical staff in the daycare center, the content of early intervention is discussed and agreed upon jointly.

Cooperation with other external specialist services also enables us to include all important aspects concerning your child in early intervention.

Complex services / therapy

In addition to the aforementioned special education support, the comprehensive service can also include medical and therapeutic services – speech therapy, occupational therapy, or physiotherapy – to further support your child, in close coordination with the special education department. These medical and therapeutic services are provided as individual therapy sessions.

Therapies within the scope of comprehensive services

Speech therapy

Speech therapy encompasses the promotion and improvement of general communication skills, spoken language, sentence structure, grammatical skills, vocabulary, language comprehension, and oral motor skills.

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy primarily promotes gross and fine motor skills, concentration, endurance, action planning, and perception.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy treatment aims to improve mobility, coordination, muscle balance, and overall movement development.

Funding locations

Early intervention services in Bremen typically take place at your child's daycare center. If your child is not (yet) attending daycare, the services can be provided either at the early intervention center or, under special circumstances, at home.

Your child can only receive a comprehensive service at the early intervention center or at a daycare center recognized as a branch of the early intervention center.

In individual cases, the complex service can also be performed at home under special conditions.

Our specialists

The early intervention team at the Hans-Wendt-Foundation is interdisciplinary, comprised of professionals from various disciplines. All our colleagues have experience working with children with developmental disabilities from birth until they start school.

The team consists of the following specialists:
