School first aid service
School first aiders ensure safety at school and sports festivals, on field trips, and during regular school days, helping their fellow students in emergencies. They are proficient in first aid, know how to apply bandages, what to do in case of head injuries, and how to perform the recovery position.
The school first aid service goes far beyond basic first aid: School first aiders take responsibility for their fellow students. They are the first on the scene in case of accidents at school, provide first aid, and inform the emergency services if necessary. These are important tasks that require knowledge and empathy, as well as self-confidence and teamwork. In Bremen, the Youth Red Cross currently supports 19 schools with its school first aid service.
