In our clinic, we treat patients aged 18 and over with illnesses in which psychological stress factors are of particular importance.
This includes
- Depressive disorders/Burnout syndrome
- Anxiety disorders
- Eating disorders
- Somatoform (pain) disorders
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Personality disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Psychological problems in coping with illness
- Furthermore, psychosomatic preliminary examinations are carried out for planned organ transplants and before bariatric surgery.
Our approach is based on a psychodynamic understanding of internal, emotional reactions. This means that we understand the symptoms as an expression of an emotional response to internal and external stressors. Unconscious conflicts, often rooted in life history, also play a role in this context.
This means that great attention is paid to the subjective experiences and behavior of patients in order to recognize and understand patterns of their personal inner logic within the context of their individual biographies. Previously unnoticed or insufficiently focused experiences and behaviors thus open up possibilities for change and, consequently, opportunities for recovery.
Many of our patients experience significant impairments in managing daily life, work, and interpersonal relationships due to persistent emotional and behavioral disorders. Therefore, in addition to their personal history, we focus on the consequences of their symptoms for social interactions and on concrete steps toward change and problem-solving. This approach integrates psychodynamic, behavioral, and systemic therapies.
The therapeutic elements of our inpatient work include psychodynamic or psychodynamic-interactional group and individual psychotherapy, art therapy, movement therapy, crafts, the involvement of relatives in the context of couple and/or family therapy sessions, learning relaxation techniques, anxiety and skills training, visits by senior or chief physicians, visits by the nursing team, as well as numerous communal and sporting activities within the framework of a socially therapeutically designed ward community.
The special offer for patients with prominent symptoms of anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa and the corresponding comorbidities includes further disorder-oriented treatment components, including detailed therapy plans and therapy contracts, eating support, body therapy, nutritional counseling and intensified psychoeducation.
Early planning for the period following inpatient treatment, taking into account the patient's private and professional life, is a matter of course for us. Good cooperation with local physicians and other institutions is very important to us in this regard.
At the heart of our inpatient psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic hospital treatment is always the individual-focused diagnostic and therapeutic support of each patient by our multi-professional treatment team.
