Support, promotion and advice for people from the same and different cultures

Education, prevention & support through our projects, events & activities.

Our non-profit organization, Lundu e.V., was founded on September 26, 2021, in Bremen by eight founding members. The initiator and driving force behind the project was, and remains to this day, Ms. Binta Bah, who is currently also our chairwoman and the organization's primary responsibility. Following its founding, the organization was officially registered in the register of associations in January 2022, and subsequently recognized as a non-profit organization in March 2022. Since then, Lundu e.V. has been legally operating as a non-profit organization. Since then, our organization has been active with heart and passion, growing and committed to its objectives and mission.

Mission statement (our mission and our goals)

The fundamental purpose of the association is to promote public health and public healthcare, as well as to promote charitable purposes within the meaning of §53 of the German Fiscal Code (AO) through support, education and prevention.

Furthermore, Lundu eV supports, promotes, advises, and connects people from the same and different cultures. Several association projects, which are of immense importance to us, have already emerged from these goals and our "mission.".

Our club and passion projects

One of our founding projects is dedicated to "raising awareness and providing support regarding FGM/C and forced marriage (for former victims and at-risk individuals, as well as their families and friends)." FGM/C stands for female genital mutilation/cutting.

We provide information about these practices and, above all, their consequences for physical and mental health. Furthermore, we advise against using these practices. Our goal is that, after learning about the negative consequences for mind and body, the targeted group will voluntarily renounce these culturally influenced traditions and practices.

Another project focuses on "Support and assistance for families and single parents with and without a migration background." Our goals here are that, after working together, families will have sufficient knowledge and skills to manage their daily lives independently or to be able to seek support and advice from appropriate professionals or institutions when problems arise.

Furthermore, we have launched the Lundu eV event series "Lundu eV – Cultural Exchange". Our goal is for participants to gain greater acceptance, tolerance, and understanding for others after the cultural exchange and to live with this fundamental attitude in our society.

Projects

Lundu Cultural Exchange

Our regular event series: The Lundu e.V. Cultural Exchange: Lundu e.V. promotes communication and mutual understanding between people from different cultures and religions. Therefore, our association organizes its own event series, "Lundu e.V. Cultural Exchange," with invited speakers on cultural and everyday topics.

Project Sunshine

Under the leadership of Ms. Bah, Lundu e. V. launched the Sunshine project, which aims to recruit local families (Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, etc.) who refrain from FGM/C and forced marriage and concentrate their efforts on the development and education of their daughters.

Project Mirror

Support and assistance for families and single parents with and without a migration background: Lundu e. V. provides assistance to support and strengthen families and single mothers and fathers – with and without a migration background. This includes help in finding professional support, such as suitable doctors, therapists, lawyers, or other specialists, and also provides interpreters for written communication or for meetings with institutions or government offices.

For this purpose, Lundu e. V. also offers its clients its own volunteer members as companions or its own translators for support.

Project Bora

Lundu e. V. makes it its mission to educate people affected by or at risk from FGM/C (female genital mutilation/cutting) and forced marriage/early marriage, as well as their families, about these practices and their consequences for physical and mental health, and to advise them against using these practices.

Furthermore, Lundu e. V. supports targeted counseling for affected/at-risk individuals by trained staff in the areas of health, family planning, education, and regarding the legal situation in Germany concerning civil status law and social law, with the involvement of qualified lawyers. (Note: The association does not provide its own legal advice; this may only be provided by professionally qualified lawyers.)

Furthermore, training courses are offered to educate medical and educational institutions/professionals, such as doctors or social workers, and to train them to become multipliers. Our goal here is that, after learning about the negative consequences for mind and body, the targeted group will voluntarily abandon these culturally determined traditions and practices.
