At the Bethanien Mother/Father-Child Home, you have the opportunity to live, learn, and develop the skills that are essential for a positive and secure life as a single parent and as a family. Our qualified educators will support you and provide individualized and targeted assistance.

Living a completely normal life

The mother/father-child house is located in the Findorff district. Here you live with your child or children in a self-contained two-room apartment that you can furnish yourself. The convenient transport links to the city center, good shopping facilities, and short distances to local recreation areas allow for a comfortable and pleasant daily life.

At our center, you will learn and develop skills that are essential for a positive and secure life as a single parent and as a family. Our qualified educators will support you and provide individual and targeted assistance.

Finding solutions together — We provide concrete support in finding and achieving your personal life goals. We keep your immediate situation in mind and work with you to achieve the goals that are right for you.

We can help you with this:

  • Stabilize your personality
  • Strengthen your social skills
  • Developing new life perspectives
  • Providing assistance and individual support in building the mother-child relationship
  • Offer counselling sessions, e.g. for relationships, child rearing and health
  • Providing support in coping with everyday problems, e.g. household management, nutrition, finances,
  • official procedures
  • Providing support, e.g. with school and vocational measures

Target audience

Age primarily 16 years and up

  • Underage mothers or fathers or pregnant women with their own need for educational support, with impaired personality development and/or who exhibit behavior that endangers the welfare of their child while living alone with their child and therefore cannot currently live with their child without intensive support.
  • Minors and pregnant women of legal age, or mothers or fathers who are solely responsible for a child under six years of age, if and for as long as they require this form of support in the care and upbringing of the child due to their personal development. This support also includes older siblings, provided the mother or father is solely responsible for their care.
  • With the consent of the parent receiving support, the other parent or a person who actually cares for the child can also be included in the service if and to the extent that it serves the purpose of the service (§19 KJHG SGB VIII). This inclusion can encompass joint care by the persons caring for the child.

Your children also have the option, from their first year of life, to attend the full-day groups of our Regenbogen (Rainbow) children's groups on the same property or at our locations on Buddestraße or Dünenstraße. This gives you, as a mother or father, time for school, career exploration, vocational training or employment, while simultaneously providing you with some relief.
