Parents' association for improving the care of children with cancer and their families
Founded in 1985 by affected parents, the association stands firmly by the side of children and parents. With great dedication and unwavering commitment, we act as partners in conversation and play, mediators, advocates, and funders.
We are committed to providing the best possible care, financing equipment and staff, and creating a healthy environment on the ward. Our work doesn't end with discharge from the hospital. We understand the significant challenges that await children and their parents outside the hospital – and we find solutions for them.
We take the issue of long-term consequences very seriously and are a reliable partner in this area as well. We will not be discouraged by the ever-increasing gaps in supply and service.
To bring light to dark times.
STATION 3
On ward 3 of the Professor Hess Parent-Child Center, families experience the most challenging time of their lives. Here, in the pediatric oncology ward, the little fighters receive their chemotherapy while their families stand by their side.
To provide the children with the most welcoming and healthy environment possible, the ward was designed with their needs and those of their parents in mind. It features patient rooms with en-suite bathrooms, balconies, telephones, televisions, and internet access, as well as a communal area with its own kitchen, perfect for playing, crafting, and eating together. Furthermore, the facility was designed to be free of radiation and other harmful substances.
Here there is room for fun and tears, for hope and worries. Here, the members of the parents' association are always available and – so that Mom has time to shower and make a phone call – push the chemotherapy stand along the ward corridors together with little Lena on her toy car.
