Parenting classes at the Prof. Hess Parent-Child Center

The parent education program at the Prof. Hess Parent-Child Center at Bremen-Mitte Hospital supports expectant and new parents throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the early days with their baby. The goal is to prepare families well for the birth and the new daily routine, and to foster a secure bond between parents and child.

The program is aimed at pregnant women, expectant parents, parents with babies, and siblings. Courses and events provide families with practical information, professional support, and opportunities to connect with other parents.

The program includes childbirth preparation courses for couples and pregnant women, as well as information sessions on maternity care. Infant care courses provide knowledge on topics such as care, breastfeeding, and daily life with a baby. A sibling preparation course prepares children for the new situation in the family.

After the birth, the parent education center offers postpartum recovery courses and DELFI baby classes, among other things. At the open Fietes Milk Meet-up, parents can learn about and discuss breastfeeding, infant nutrition, complementary feeding, and everyday questions related to caring for a baby. Lactation consultants are present. There is also a regular support group for parents of premature babies.

The parenting school combines information about childbirth with practical support for a good start to family life.
