Cleaning, shopping, companionship, accompanying people to appointments – many older people rely on help for everyday tasks. We organize neighborhood support and daily assistance in seven service centers. We ensure that the support provided by approximately 1,600 volunteers is effectively utilized.
Information and advice
Do you want to live independently in your own home for as long as possible? We provide information and advice on all topics related to aging, as well as chronic illnesses and disabilities.
We offer you a comprehensive overview of all support services: long-term care insurance, neighborhood assistance, everyday assistance, meeting places, outpatient and inpatient care, mobile meal services, emergency call providers and much more.
Organized neighborhood help and everyday assistance
Our volunteers support elderly, disabled and sick people in their households and with their personal activities.
We can connect you with dedicated volunteers:
- as help in the household
- for personal escort or
- for individual care for people with dementia.
People with dementia can be supported through various activities offered by volunteers (games, memory training, conversations, etc.).
You will enter into a service agreement with the service center. This costs €29 for neighborhood assistance and €35 for
everyday assistance. Our volunteers receive a flat-rate compensation of €9.50 per hour from you.
People with a care level rating can have these costs reimbursed by their long-term care insurance. Generally, up to €131 per month is reimbursable.
Day care for people with increased care needs
On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm, we offer a group program in Huchting for older people with dementia, depression, or loneliness.
A contract for everyday assistance (35 euros/month) is required. The cost per appointment is 35 euros plus the cost of lunch. This is a recognized service according to §45b SGB XI.

The DLZ Horn is a member of this alliance. Among other things, it publishes a program with services for people with dementia and holds a monthly meeting for volunteers: every first Thursday of the month from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the premises of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) Bremen State Association (Brucknerstr. 13, directly next to the service center)
