For over 75 years, the diaconal institution has offered competent help, trustworthy support and individual encouragement to children, young people and adults.

Founded in 1947 on a former barracks site in Lesum, the institution has developed a range of services over the years that is unique in this form in Northern Germany.

With approximately 1,200 employees caring for around 2,000 people annually, this provider of social and diaconal services is one of the largest employers in Bremen-North. The organization employs
approximately 1,200 permanent staff members, including a varying number of freelancers, participants in the Federal Volunteer Service and the Voluntary Social Year program, trainees in nursing, social work, and special education, as well as interns. Friedehorst is the largest employer in Bremen-North.
