The path to a happy partnership is often fraught with challenges for the couple. Maintaining a close partnership, based on equality and allowing for maximum individuality for both partners, is arguably one of life's most difficult tasks. When a couple becomes parents, it can sometimes be even harder to keep their relationship as a couple in focus.

Having a common denominator is the supporting basis of the partnership, in which both can always find themselves and from there, each person can and may contribute their individuality.

The art of a partnership is to form a community from two more or less different individuals in which each makes compromises, but both still remain authentic.

If one partner has to give up too much of themselves to maintain the relationship, for example, because their individual life plans don't allow for a middle ground, then the relationship can become severely unstable. The couple enters a relationship crisis. At this point, arguments become more frequent instead of constructive discussions, thoughts of separation may arise, or the focus may suddenly shift to new, extramarital relationships.

Couples counseling/therapy can be very helpful in exploring together the issues where you feel stuck, where despite many arguments and conversations, there seems to be no progress. What old issues might you be carrying with you, perhaps since childhood, that subconsciously hold you back in certain areas of your lives today?.

I work with "attachment-oriented body psychotherapy" according to Thomas Harms and focus on couples who are in the process of becoming or already being a family. I also support parents who, due to significant stress, such as health problems affecting the parents or the child, need assistance to maintain their own well-being and their relationship as a couple.
