Financial support & advice
Are you pregnant? And currently receiving citizen's allowance? Or are you a student, trainee, or low-income earner (without entitlement to citizen's allowance)? Then the job center can help you with additional support:
- Additional needs allowance (supplement to basic income): If you are pregnant, you usually need more money than usual. From the 12th week of your pregnancy, you can apply to the job center for additional income – this is called additional needs allowance and is paid in addition to your basic income allowance. You will need to provide proof from a doctor that you are indeed pregnant.
- Maternity clothing allowance: Do you need money for new clothes during your pregnancy? Then you can submit an application to the job center.
- Initial equipment allowance (lump sum): Do you need money for the initial equipment for your newborn child? Then you can submit an application to the job center.
Further benefits after birth: You will also receive further benefits after the birth of your child. You must apply for these benefits:
- Parental allowance
- Child benefit
- Child support advance (if you are a single parent and the father does not pay child support)
That's quite a lot of different services! We're happy to help and advise you. Speak to your personal contact person at the Bremen Job Center or call us at 0421/56 60 0.
