Self-help group for adult adoptees in Bremen
The self-help group has existed since 1993. For all those affected, knowledge of their own origins and the associated history is an important, fundamental desire and a crucial step towards identity formation and personality development.
Children in foster care or adoption without their biological parents often grow up for decades with false or no knowledge of their origins. However, the right to know one's origins is enshrined in the German constitution. Contact with the biological parents, especially the mother, is the primary goal, as only she knows the complete and true story.
Schattenkind Bremen supports adolescent and adult foster children and adoptees in their search for their family of origin.
The group helps through:

- Information provided by associations for foster parents and adoptive parents
- Public relations (lectures, press releases, information booths)
