The network “Growing Older in Bremen West” is an open interdisciplinary network for full-time professionals and citizens and sees itself as an independent forum and is committed to healthy and self-determined aging in Bremen West.

The aim is to identify needs and requirements through both direct feedback from older people and professional assessment, and to communicate these needs effectively to the public.

The working group wants to:

  • To help shape social and health policy frameworks in the interest of older people.
  • Raising public awareness about the topic of "aging"
  • To make existing services known to each other, to network them, and to provide impetus for further development
  • Promote communication and cooperation among the various institutions
  • As part of joint activities that strengthen the concerns of older people and their environment
  • Reaching people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds
  • Making information accessible and publishing support services"

Participation is open to all those working in the field of aging and care.

Cooperation with other working groups and committees:
The working group collaborates with community centers and parishes in Bremen West, the GTP (Community Partnership), the local library, and many others, and strives to maintain contact with local politicians.
The Heimathafen working group has been offering cultural and informational programs for people with and without dementia for many years.
