Continuing education for therapeutic professionals and early intervention specialists
Relationship-oriented autism intervention
Dates: Thursday and Friday, March 27-28, 2025, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
André Zirnsak – course no. 2025-10
Playing is fun AND essential for all developmental processes. However, autistic children sometimes have difficulty developing even basic play skills, such as exploring and experimenting. Consequently, they often find it difficult or impossible to engage in cooperative play with peers and adults.
For the children themselves, and of course for their caregivers, it is a considerable challenge to establish carefree interactions, develop a joy in activities and play, and, above all, to navigate group situations. In this seminar you will receive:
- Access to or reactivation of one's own enjoyment of playing
- Knowledge about the importance of play for child development
- Introductions to theoretical models that help in designing play activities for autistic children (DIRFloortime method, SELF-REG, Waldon approach, therapeutic puppetry)
- The importance of containment in therapeutic processes with autistic children and their families
- Suggestions for working with parents
- A presentation of the practical implementation of the models in different settings using video examples and exercises
Participants are encouraged to engage in ongoing discussion throughout the course and are encouraged to contribute their own case studies. By the end of the course, each participant should be able to apply the course content to their work, both theoretically and practically, and put it into practice.
