The principle of the Day of Caring is simple: companies give their employees a day off so that they can work in non-profit organizations for a good cause.
The idea of corporate volunteering (voluntary employee engagement) originated in the USA and has been implemented in Bremen by the Bremen Volunteer Agency since 2004.
We offer:
- Comprehensive advice and provision of information material for the preparation and implementation of the Day of Caring
- Finding the right partner in the non-profit sector
- Selecting a suitable engagement opportunity
- Support in recruiting staff for the action day
- Assistance with press and public relations
- Photographic documentation and follow-up (e.g., evaluation among the participants)
For all activities that go beyond introductory advice on corporate volunteering, we rely on expense allowances.
Frank Mayer is responsible for four volunteer programs: Reading Time, Double Thinkers, Arrival Mentorships, and the Day of Caring. Currently, over 400 volunteers in Reading Time and Double Thinkers work as reading and math tutors in more than 50 Bremen elementary schools. Frank Mayer is the sole person who oversees this dedicated and vibrant group.
