An awareness workshop with concrete impulses for practical application
Thursday, November 5, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Inner Mission Bremen, Käthe Social Campus, Käthe-Popall-Straße 5, 28201 Bremen
Newly arrived EU citizens bring diverse life stories, experiences, and perspectives. Professionals working with Roma communities, in particular, often encounter complex social situations, varying access to institutions and support services, as well as experiences of exclusion and discrimination.
The workshop provides fundamental knowledge about the lives and needs of newly arrived EU citizens and creates space to reflect on one's own perceptions, attributions, and patterns of behavior. A particular focus is placed on the forms of discrimination classism and anti-Gypsyism: How do prejudices and social attributions arise? How do poverty, precarious living conditions, and unequal access to social resources affect participation and support services? And how do different forms of discrimination reinforce each other?
Target group:
The workshop is aimed at all interested parties – especially employees of public administrations, institutions of the regular support system and providers of social work in Bremen and the surrounding area.
Speaker:
Sara Paßquali, MA Philosophy, trainer and consultant on the topics of: anti-racism, Sinti* & Roma*, anti-discrimination, intersectionality, gender & sexual diversity, democratic education and empowerment
The event is free.
