Support for young people with caregiving responsibilities

Pause Button is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth for children and young people who regularly take on responsibility for the care of a family member. These young people are also known as young carers . Reasons for this can include, for example, a chronic or serious illness or disability within the family.

Furthermore, teachers, outpatient care services, social services at schools and hospitals, as well as youth organizations and the general public are made aware of the situation of children and young people. Here you will find further information on children and young people providing care, as well as a database of projects and initiatives active in this area.

To promote networking, a support network for children and young people with caregiving responsibilities has been established. The network meets at least once a year for professional exchange. In addition, an internal newsletter is regularly distributed. If you are interested in supporting young people with caregiving responsibilities and would like to get involved, please contact the "Pause Button" project.
