Advice, networking and support for professionals from child and youth welfare, the justice system and other social services in the professional support of affected families.
The imprisonment of a parent changes the lives of children and their families overnight. Besides the sudden loss of a key figure in their daily lives, questions, uncertainties, and fears of social exclusion often arise. In this difficult situation, children have a right to be heard, protected, and to have their needs taken seriously.
- Our goal: We are committed to ensuring that children's rights are protected and that the parent-child relationship is strengthened despite the physical separation.
- As the central coordination office for Bremen and Bremerhaven, we act as an interface and guide between families, the justice system and child and youth welfare services.
Our services for professionals and institutions:
- We support professionals from child and youth welfare, the justice system and other social services in providing professional support to affected families.
- Expert advice & training: We raise awareness of the specific living situation of children and qualify professionals (e.g. in daycare centers or schools).
- Networking: We promote cooperation between the prison system and youth welfare services in order to create diverse support options.
- Family-oriented prison system: Supporting the development of family-friendly conditions in the prisons in Bremen and Bremerhaven.
