On average, young adults check their smartphones 85 times a day, because mobile phones connect us to the world. But babies and children don't understand that yet.
Without a mobile phone, we can connect with our baby. It receives our undivided attention. This is very important for its development and our relationship with the child.
Both have their time. Therefore, we recommend:
- Time without mobile phones: e.g., while breastfeeding, eating, playing…
- Set times for using your mobile phone: e.g., when the baby is sleeping
- And if the temptation is great to "just take a quick look": put your phone on silent, in another room or turn it off.
This helps the child realize: My parents are completely there for me.
